About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claims Supervisor to lead a high-performing claims team managing complex, multi-state workers’ compensation claims. This is a direct-hire leadership opportunity for a hands-on claims professional who enjoys mentoring others, driving quality outcomes, and serving as a subject matter expert for complex and litigated claims.
In this role, you’ll have meaningful influence over claims strategy, compliance, team development, and customer experience
, while partnering closely with leadership to ensure best-in-class claims execution.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiners, ensuring performance goals related to quality, productivity, compliance, and customer service are consistently met.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex, high-exposure, and litigated claims; provide guidance on strategy, reserves, settlements, and cost containment.
- Ensure compliance with state-specific Workers’ Compensation laws and regulatory reporting requirements
, with primary focus on Illinois and Kentucky
. - Partner with leadership on training initiatives, performance evaluations, and merit-based recommendations
. - Mentor and develop team members to strengthen technical expertise, jurisdictional knowledge, and best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies and supporting claims best practices.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, external partners, and customers, including participating in presentations or meetings as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience managing complex Workers’ Compensation claims, with strong expertise in Illinois and Kentucky jurisdictions.
- Additional experience in Michigan and/or Indiana strongly preferred.
- Prior experience leading, mentoring, or supervising claims professionals.
- Strong working knowledge of Workers’ Compensation administration, case management, litigation, and cost containment strategies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, coach, and present confidently.
- Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint).
- Comfortable working across multiple systems and monitors.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Workers’ Compensation state certification or license required.
- Experienced Examiner with:
- IL certification, and
- Active license in MI, IN, KY, or a reciprocal state (e.g., TX, FL).
- Self-Insured Certificate preferred.
