Town Hall Extension or House of Sport (Etihad Campus) / remote working as required Contract type Fixed Term (Part time) Closing date 2 March 2026 Interview date 20 March 2026 Job Description We are seeking an experienced Event Director to lead the strategic and operational planning and delivery of the World Climbing Lead, Speed and Para climbing World Cup Manchester 2027.
The primary role of the Event Director is to ensure that Manchester delivers the best World Cup event for climbing, furthering the city’s reputation as a global city for sport and events. As such, we are looking for a dynamic and creative Event Director with exceptional leadership and project management skills.
You will be accountable not only for delivering a world‑class event but also for bringing to life a broader range of impacts for the sport and the city of Manchester.
The successful candidate will report directly into the Stakeholder Management Board (SHB) and will Chair the Local Organising Committee (LOC), overseeing the operational planning and delivery of the event, working closely with Manchester City Council's Events Team, the British Mountaineering Council, UK Sport, World Climbing and all other relevant appointed personnel and organisations as required.
