City of Wolverhampton Council is looking to recruit experienced and motivated Revenues and Benefits Team Leaders to play a key role in delivering high quality, customer focused statutory services for our residents and businesses.

Responsibilities

As a Team Leader you will support the effective management of the Revenues and Benefits Service, maximising the collection of income owed to the Council, ensuring timely and accurate administration of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support, as well as Council Tax, Business Rates and the BID (Business Improvement Districts) levy. You will also contribute to systems maintenance and service development, while leading a team responsible for one or more of these essential functions.

We’re Looking For
  • Expertise in the determination and assessment of Housing Benefit and Council Tax support claims from all tenancy types, specialising in Supported and Temporary Accommodation Claims
  • Challenging eligibility for supported housing evaluating provider eligibility under Housing Benefit regulations
  • Representing the service in forums, gateway meetings, and presentations with supported/temporary accommodation providers and stakeholders
  • Billing, assessment and collection of Council Tax, Business Rates and Business Improvement Districts (BID)
  • Income collection and debt recovery

About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience at a senior level within a revenues or benefits environment
  • Strong, detailed working knowledge of the regulatory framework governing Housing Benefit, Council Tax, Business Rates or income collection
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team
  • A proactive, adaptable approach with the confidence to use your own initiative within delegated authority
  • Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development
