Overview

The People Transformation Director acts as a core partner to the HR Leadership Team (HRLT) and the broader Fuel for Growth (FFG) programme, defining and driving people transformation initiatives across Kingfisher. This role will set out the blueprint for a sustained cost‑conscious culture within the People Function and a future colleague and leader service model. You’ll be accountable for definition, design and execution phases, working with partners and ensuring interdependencies are managed with other work streams.

Phase 1 will focus on outlining the end state of the People Function to inform direction and drive near‑time efficiencies in 2026, working with teams across Group Functions and Banners. This is an initial 12‑month contract.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic leadership & vision: Define and lead end‑state vision for the People Function, partnering the HRLT and managing delivery by an external partner, starting with a 12‑week sprint and being clear on the employee and line‑manager proposition.
  • Programme management: Lead several work streams across HR functional areas from design to implementation, ensuring they deliver on time and on budget while taking leaders on the journey.
  • Matrix leadership: Build cross‑functional matrixed teams to drive internal change initiatives with a mixture of internal and partner resources where required.
  • Change management & culture shift: Develop and implement change management strategies through design and into implementation, keeping end‑user thinking at the heart and equipping leaders with tools and training to sustain transformation efforts.
  • Innovation & continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and agile thinking.
  • Stakeholder influence: Act as a trusted advisor to the HRLT and GE (when required), managing cross‑functional collaboration to ensure alignment and integration, particularly with work streams like GBS.
  • Capability building: Coach and mentor teams to build change and delivery skills, leading the development of transformation tools, methodologies, and frameworks.
  • Benefit realisation: Define KPIs and success metrics for transformation initiatives, track and report on benefits realisation and ROI, and report regularly to the HRLT and the broader FFG programme.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Strong experience shaping, motivating and driving HR change within a large, complex, matrixed, fast‑moving environment with a clear business case for efficiencies.
  • Experience in defining and implementing new delivery models and strategic partnerships, e.g., shared services, outsourcing.
  • Large‑scale programme management experience and delivery of multiple work streams.
  • Excellence in change‑management methodologies that create understanding, build support for change, and enable adoption.
  • Broad understanding of technology solutions across the HR landscape.
  • Proven track record of stakeholder management and influencing skills at all levels of the organization, with the ability to push beyond “how it’s done today.”
  • Proven ability to operate successfully at a multi‑national level, demonstrating strong cultural awareness and sensitivity.
