Attendance and Data Coordinator
Permanent, Grade C (£35,412 - £41,771). Working 36.5 hours per week. Hybrid role – all staff must work from Birmingham City Council buildings as business needs dictate.
Responsibilities- Lead the effective and efficient operation of school attendance and legal intervention data management processes.
- Produce statistics and reports on legal intervention and notifications.
- Supervise Grade B officers, providing quality assurance in the application of interventions designed to improve school attendance and ensure children receive their right to an education.
- Manage and supervise team members – allocation, workload monitoring, appraisals and associated HR processes.
- Support families and advise parents/carers on their legal responsibilities regarding children not in receipt of education, in line with statutory regulations.
- Assist in the implementation and management of systems and processes to co‑ordinate data management and extraction for key performance indicators.
- Liaise with customers and colleagues on individual case matters, operating with a high degree of confidentiality.
- Oversee the part‑time/reduced timetable notification process, ensuring guidance and online forms are up to date and fit for purpose.
- Support Attendance Support Officers, schools, BCC services and other agencies in identifying children not receiving education, including securing school places.
- Produce internal guidance to support team members and ensure fair and transparent allocations.
- Prepare and issue Penalty Notices and School Attendance Order paperwork and advise staff as appropriate.
- Set up and maintain all legal intervention administrative systems – part‑time timetables, statutory timescales, etc.
- High standard of education with evidence of continuous professional development.
- Leadership and supervisory experience, particularly in a team environment.
- Proven organisational skills and the ability to meet statutory timescales.
- Experience with computerised systems, including word‑processing, databases, spreadsheets and the production of statistical reports.
- Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities, managing conflicting demands.
- Collaborative working style with demonstrated partnership with external agencies.
- Independence and ability to work within clear guidelines.
