Job Summary
The post-holder is responsible for implementing and managing CWG’s resilience programme to enhance the resilience of both the Canary Wharf Estate and Canary Wharf Group. The role ensures the estate remains secure, accessible, and able to recover quickly from disruption or incident, and that the company is protected, prepared for, and able to withstand and adapt to disruptive events. This is a 14‑month fixed‑term contract with a salary of up to £95,000.
The position is primarily office‑based, with one day per week working from home.
- Maintain CWG’s ISO 22301 certification and oversee the internal audit programme.
- Review and update the Business Impact Analysis programme and Business Continuity Plans.
- Prioritise the organisation’s departments and critical activities to align with business objectives and ensure effective recovery from an incident.
- Engage with CWG department heads to coordinate their contingency and resilience plans and raise awareness of business continuity and incident readiness among all staff.
- Test business continuity processes and manual workarounds as appropriate.
- Manage CWG’s Business Recovery Site and other contingency measures.
- Own and regularly review CWG’s Crisis Management Plan and arrangements.
- Develop and run the annual Crisis Management exercise for senior executives.
- Ensure middle and senior management across the Group are prepared for unexpected disruptive events and ready for activation if required.
- Maintain Major Incident/Emergency plans and policies governing the company’s response to threats and major incidents.
- Co‑ordinate the activation and execution of the Business Continuity, Incident, and Crisis Management plans when a disruption occurs.
- Lead the Security and Resilience Department HQ during an incident on behalf of the Director, representing the Director to senior executives if absent.
- Deliver an annual programme of exercises and tests with internal and external incident management teams and stakeholders, including estate‑wide crisis exercises with corporate and retail tenants.
- Manage relationships with tenants, the Emergency Services, local government, and other stakeholders to embed plans and coordinate the Canary Wharf Resilience Forum.
- Oversee a horizon‑scanning programme to identify potential future impacts to the Estate and advise relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a refined understanding of risks to both Group and Estate and shape the resilience programme accordingly.
- Lead departmental planning, policy, and other work as required by the Director.
- Demonstrable experience leading resilience, business continuity, and crisis management activity at a senior level in a corporate environment.
- Experience maintaining business continuity management systems and a strong comprehension of ISO 22301:2019.
- Experience in incident and crisis management, leading response teams at strategic, tactical and operational levels.
- Experience writing and delivering crisis exercises to all levels of the organisation, including senior executives.
- BCBI or equivalent certification.
- Degree‑level education (or equivalent relevant professional experience).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to provide prompt and accurate advice to senior management and tenants.
- Exceptional organisational skills and ability to work independently, formulate strategy, policy and procedures, and implement them within the company.
- Innovative and proactive thinker, able to challenge existing practices constructively.
- Adept at building relationships with internal and external partners to support business objectives.
- Prepared to work flexible and varied hours, including outside normal working hours and on call.
