Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Head of Electoral Services as appropriate during absence, providing management cover and support to the team.
  • Assist the Electoral Services Manager in managing the electoral services of the Council, including all elections and referendums in Runnymede.
  • Conduct all statutory elections and referendums in Runnymede.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure elections and referendums are in line with current legislative requirements and the new Election's Bill.
  • Ensure data is accurate and meaningful, translating it into reports that are clear, concise and accessible.
  • Monitor spending to inform the Head of Service and Specialist Manager’s management of the electoral registration budget.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team who can demonstrate the following range of skills:

Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Studied or studying for the Association of Electoral Administrators (AEA) Certificate in Electoral Administration or equivalent.
  • Experience of effectively managing or supervising staff.
  • Wide and specialist knowledge of electoral services matters.
  • Significant experience of developing and building effective working relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and able to deal with people at all levels confidently, sensitively and diplomatically.
  • A good understanding of local government and the local and regional context and of working in a political environment.
  • Proven experience of managing and developing teams and directing the work of others to meet required outcomes.
  • Proven organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise work and set priorities for supervises and other team members.
  • Ability to assimilate information quickly to reach decisions and judgments in respect of workload priorities.
  • Ability to analyse complex presenting problems, keep accurate records and provide objective, timely advice.
