Executive Director

Purpose:

To provide strategic and operational leadership to AHEAD International, ensuring effective delivery of programmes, regulatory compliance, and organisational sustainability.

• Provide overall strategic leadership and direction in line with AHEAD International’s charitable objectives.
• Oversee organisational operations in the UK and international programmes, including Sierra Leone.
• Lead and manage senior staff, ensuring effective performance management and staff development.
• Ensure compliance with UK charity law, safeguarding standards, and Home Office sponsor duties.
• Oversee financial sustainability, budgets, and reporting to the Board of Trustees.
• Represent AHEAD International to funders, regulators, partners, and external stakeholders.
• Lead organisational risk management and governance processes.

• Postgraduate qualification or equivalent senior‑level experience in Charity Management, International Development, Public Health, Social Policy, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years’ senior leadership experience within the charity, public, or voluntary sector, including strategic planning and organisational leadership.
• Proven experience of managing multi‑country or international programmes, including oversight of staff and operations.
• Demonstrable experience of financial oversight, budgeting, and working with Boards of Trustees.
• Experience of partnership development and stakeholder engagement at senior level.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong understanding of UK charity law, governance, safeguarding, and compliance requirements.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and meet Home Office requirements for sponsored skilled roles.
