Salary: £62,100

Fixed Term

Location: Home based with occasional travel

Hours: 37 hours per week

What you'll take care of
  • You will manage all aspects of Fire and Building Safety (excluding gas, electrical, lifts, asbestos, legionella, except where there is a cross over between teams).
  • Devise and manage the fire risk assessment programme, along with programmes of work flowing from risk assessments.
  • Ensure that all actions are assessed and prioritised by risk and completed in a timely fashion.
  • Manage a team of technical managers and administrative staff.
  • Responsibility for cyclical maintenance programmes for all active and passive fire safety measures, including fire doors and fire alarms.
  • To act as point of contact with the Fire and Rescue Services and key primary authority contact.
  • Review and give input into specifications for new development sites, review fire strategies and design.
  • Act as a point of escalation for the Building Safety Team. Resolve any supplier disputes or conflicts in a timely and commercial way. Resolve any Customer complaints in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Assist operational delivery teams in developing and implementing suitable procedures, standards, guidance, information, checklists to ensure compliance with emerging fire and building safety legislation and guidance.
  • Lead in developing the awareness of building safety to ensure that it grows and is maintained through regular engagement with all stakeholders.
  • You’ll promote a safety culture within Magna and be the go-to person, delivering regular training where required to other front‑line teams.
  • Ensure building safety and operational performance data is accurately captured, analysed and presented. Compile detailed and concise reports on building safety issues when required.
  • Ensure that high risk buildings are managed in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Prepare building safety cases with consultancy.
What you'll need to be successful
  • Experience managing a mobile workforce.
  • Member of a professional organisation i.e. Institute of Fire Engineers or Institute of Fire Safety Managers with up-to-date Continuous Professional Development records (desirable).
  • Level 3 award in fire risk assessment or similar.
  • A sound knowledge of all relevant fire safety legislation including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
  • Strong decision‑making/problem‑solving skills.
  • The ability to work across teams and levels of the organisation to achieve a culture of continuous improvement and raise building safety competence across the organisation.
Qualifications
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety (desirable)
