Job Summary

The European New Plant/Product (NPP) Licensing Director will establish the vision and strategy for Regulatory Affairs to accelerate the licensing needed to deploy new technologies in Europe and outside North America. This seasoned leader will oversee multiple product licensing efforts, including managing strategic efforts to accelerate bringing our disruptive, small modular reactor (BWRX‑300) to market. Responsible for managing teams and providing leadership and strategic guidance for new plant and product licensing activities in GEH and GNF.

Build and mentor high‑performing teams that will bring new products and projects to the European market. Work cross‑functionally with product and project managers, engineering and senior management to formulate and execute the strategy and align with the North America NPP Licensing Director on regulatory strategy. Establish and manage relationships with regulators, customers and industry working groups. Review, approve and submit documents to regulators and industry working groups.

Occasional travel is required. The role is in Regulatory Affairs and reports to the General Manager of Nuclear Programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic development and deployment for licensing for European customers and maintain relationships with European customers.
  • Establish and maintain effective business relationships with international working groups and European nuclear regulators as the main point of contact.
  • Provide expert knowledge of international nuclear rules and regulations, as appropriate.
  • Provide functional work direction to licensing managers, licensing engineers and licensing project managers.
  • Monitor applicable nuclear regulations and ensure GEH / GNF manage applicable changes.
  • Maintain nuclear licensing basis documents and correspondence records.
  • Manage periodic and reactive nuclear regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Lead resolution of nuclear licensing and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Coordinate efforts and interfaces of the Regulatory Affairs organization with other GEH / GNF teams.
  • Coordinate interfaces with industry organizations (e.g., IAEA, WNA).
  • Manage licensing budget.
  • Enforce and ensure compliance with internal GEH Quality Program requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
  • Major experience in nuclear licensing, design and operations.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or management role with significant scope and responsibility.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a site security clearance, including required background checks, and an SGI/safeguards clearance.

  • Working knowledge of nuclear regulations, preferably for European countries.

  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills including facilitation.

  • Strong program and project management skills.
  • PC proficiency.
