Job description

Are you looking for an exciting new challenge?

We are looking for a fire safety leader responsible for managing and delivering the Council’s approach to fire safety within the Council’s housing stock of circa 5,200 properties.

We place a huge emphasis on compliance, meeting all its regulatory duties. This post is crucial in keeping our tenants safe at home and our employees safe  role will pick up where the previous post holder left off and continue our improvement journey.

Do you have what we need?

To hit the ground running you will be educated to degree level, alongside an IFE Level 4 Certificate in Fire Safety or equivalent, and will have extensive professional demonstrable experience managing fire risk and statutory compliance, with a proven track record being responsible for fire safety programmes from inception through to completion.

Are you passionate about delivering Fire Safety projects?

You will work closely with our Housing Senior Leadership Team to devise strategies, policies and assurance processes to ensure compliance with all statutory fire safety laws, regulations, codes of practice and guidance.

Are you a self-starter and driven to succeed?

You will be an associate member of the Institute of Fire Engineers (AIFireE) and working towards achieving member status (MIFireE), have experience and be familiar with PAS:79-1:2020 and PAS:79-2:2020 format of fire risk assessment, with up-to-date knowledge of legislation such as Regulatory Reform FSO 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, Building Safety Act 2022, Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023, Building Regulations 2010, and best practice in fire safety.

You will demonstrate your ability to innovate and take the initiative, as well as excellent communication and presentation skills.

Leading a team of 3 Building Safety Officers, you will be versed in delivering various methods of engagement to a variety of audiences and play a pivotal role in all matters of fire safety and providing safe, decent homes.
