Equans is looking for a Category Manager to join our team on a permanent basis, working from home. This full‑time role offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
Responsibilities- Deliver procurement support across the business, managing a buying team to drive profit improvement and cost certainty with a focus on best business practice, fiscal performance, risk management and compliance.
- Provide consistent and professional procurement services to internal customers.
- Deliver value, including bottom‑line savings, on an ongoing basis, meeting specific in‑year targets while proactively seeking new opportunities.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and support procurement solutions that match those needs.
- Act as a driver in raising the visibility and perception of procurement.
- Manage suppliers delivering services specific to the Business Unit and source new suppliers that best meet business needs, ensuring best value, fitness for purpose, risk reduction and quality service to the end customer.
- Adopt a collaborative flexible approach and maintain close working relationships with other procurement team members, including category across the UKBU and the wider procurement group.
- Identify opportunities to deliver value by aligning with the Category approach and manage the successful delivery and transparent reporting of deliverables.
- Identify innovations for delivery to our end customers.
- Streamline procurement processes and procedures.

- Manage the buying team, including succession planning, performance and development.

- Experience in procurement and promoting procurement aspects of all contracts.
- Strong communication skills with multiple organisational stakeholders, suppliers and customers.
- Track record of delivering procurement commitments (financial, risk, business continuity).
- Ability to enhance the perception of procurement and demonstrate commercial acumen across all aspects of procurement.
- Financial acumen, working with finance to understand financial performance and improvement.
- Influencing skills to bring a more effective procurement approach to contracts (operational, supplier & subcontractor).
- Adaptability to vary communication style based on audience, ensuring consistent messaging and clear dialogue.
