We are looking for a fire safety leader responsible for managing and delivering the Council’s approach to Fire Safety within the Council’s housing stock of circa 5,200 properties.
We place a huge emphasis on compliance, meeting all regulatory duties. This post is critical to keep tenants safe in their homes and staff safe role picks up where the previous holder left off and continues our improvement journey.
Responsibilities- Work closely with the Housing Senior Leadership Team to devise strategies, policies and assurance processes to ensure compliance with all statutory fire safety laws, regulations, codes of practice and guidance.
- Lead a team of 3 Building Safety Officers, delivering various methods of engagement to diverse audiences.
- Develop and maintain fire risk assessment programmes in PAS:79-1:2020 and PAS:79-2:2020 formats.
- Ensure up‑to‑date knowledge of all legislation such as Regulatory Reform FSO 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, Building Safety Act 2022, Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023, Building Regulations 2010 and related best practice.
- Demonstrate innovation, initiative, and excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Degree level education, alongside IFE Level 4 Certificate in Fire Safety or equivalent.
- Extensive demonstrable experience managing fire risk and statutory compliance, with a proven track record of fire safety programmes from inception to completion.
- Associate member of The Institute of Fire Engineers (AIFireE), working toward achieving member status (MIFireE).
- Familiarity with PAS:79-1:2020 and PAS:79-2:2020 formats.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and standards.
- £59,530 – £62,869 per annum (up to £65,089 per annum for excellent performance once in post) – pay award pending
- 28 days annual leave (plus an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service)
