Band 4 Domestic Team Leader NHS AfC:Band 4 Job overview
Ensure the delivery of a high-quality, patient-centered cleaning service, with performance and effectiveness measured against the Trust’s Facilities Management Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Core Standards.
Responsibility extends to all patient, staff, and visitor areas within the hospital, including the grounds, with the post holder expected to rotate across these areas.
The duty team leader will oversee the domestic service during weekends and bank holidays. Managing a very large staff group, the post holder will be actively involved in implementing all staff policies and procedures, guided by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and reporting to the Domestic Manager for guidance.
This is a Monday to Friday position operating on a rota, with a combination of early shifts (07:00–15:00) and late shifts (13:00–21:00). Occasional weekend working may be required to meet service needs.
Please note that this role requires 100% on-site presence due to essential operational and business needs. Remote work or hybrid arrangements are not available for this position.
Main duties of the job- Audit the performance of the domestic operatives
- Domestic department bleep holder, the nature of the requests will be unpredictable
- Verify Clocking time reports and other relevant time and attendance records and authorize for payment
- Manage the authorisations for annual leave and other unplanned staff absence to ensure the roster operates with minimum use of bank staff.
- Actively monitor sickness and absence of domestic operatives and implement the Trust’s policy for sickness management in conjunction with the domestic manager, this will involve sick reviews
- The recruitment and selection of domestic staff
- Action and complete all relevant and operational cleaning requests
- Ensure sufficient stock is requested, ordered, delivered and maintained for the domestic staff
- Identify domestic operatives mandatory training needs are fully satisfied and undertake training of domestic staff in cleaning duties, floor care, COSHH and basic Health & Safety
- To complete the induction and training of all new staff
- Planning costed duty rosters and allocating work. All weekly rosters must be within the agreed weekly budget and monitored
- Responsible for the KSF development review process and appraising staff
- English Language to GCSE standard or equivalent
- A levels, NVQ level 3 or equivalent
- Significant experience in a Junior Management/Supervisory role
- Experience/understanding of Sickness & Absence and Performance & Conduct policies
- Experience in the recruitment and selection process
- Must be able to work under pressure and respond well in emergencies
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to undertake quality control and standard monitoring and setting
