Are you an established procurement professional looking to take the next step in your career? Do you have expertise in public sector procurement? Are you a self‑starter with the motivation to lead major procurement projects? Brighton and Hove City Council are seeking two Procurement Managers.
One for the Social Care category, which covers Adult Social Care, Children's Services and Public Health, and one for the Housing and Property category. You may also be required to support other procurement categories.
The Brighton & Hove Procurement Team supports council departments with procurement and tendering via a category management approach. The team ensures regulatory compliance whilst driving value, delivering savings and realising social value.
The team works in a hybrid setting across Hove Town Hall and remotely.

About the roleThe Brighton and Hove Procurement Team provides direct local support to its customers in the Brighton and Hove City Council, providing expertise on tendering activity and contributing to the delivery of service objectives, savings and other benefits including Social Value and Community Wealth Building.
There are four categories in the Brighton and Hove Procurement Team:
- Social Care
- Corporate Contracts, IT & Professional Services
- Housing and Property
- City Services and Infrastructure
Procurement Managers are responsible for running major, high‑profile, high‑value tenders. You may also have responsibility for specific sections of service areas, coordinating and supporting all procurement and contracting activity and managing stakeholders including commissioners, contract managers, Heads of Service and Directors.
The outcome of your work will be contracts that are delivered in full compliance with the council’s contract standing orders and regulations, and deliver best value for the Council, not only in terms of cost, but also by maximising social and environmental benefits.
Key skills and experience- Self‑motivated, proactive, and a creative problem‑solver.
- Strong communication and numerical skills.
- Procurement/buying experience.
- Awareness of contract management.
- Ability to plan and organise effectively, even under pressure.
- Effective stakeholder management.
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, taking ownership and responsibility for workload.
Workplace offers a flexible environment with a blend of in‑office and remote work. The role is based at Hove Town Hall, Norton Road, Hove, BN3 3BQ
. Salary is £39,862 – £42,839 annually (pro‑rated if less than 37 hours). Contractual hours are 37 per week. Full benefits package available (details on Why work for us pages). Travel to and from contractual location is at employee’s expense.
