Position: Waiting List Clerk - Public Dental Service

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Public Dental Service for a motivated and organised individual to join the administrative team as a Waiting List Clerk.

The Public Dental Service provides care for patients with additional needs, including those with complex medical conditions, those requiring additional support, or those who are unable to access routine dental services.

This role plays an important part in supporting equitable access to dental care across the community through the effective management of patient waiting lists.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
  • This is a full-time permanent post working 36 hours per week
  • These hours will be worked Monday to Friday
  • You will be based at Glasgow Dental Hospital, G2 3JZ
Key responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain waiting lists, ensuring patients are scheduled in line with clinical priority and national waiting time standards.
  • Undertake accurate data entry, arrange appointments, respond to patient enquiries, liaise with clinical teams, and support ongoing waiting list validation processes.
  • Working as part of the administrative team, help ensure the efficient delivery of community‑based dental services by maintaining accurate records and providing a high‑quality administrative service.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • Experience of working in an administrative or clerical role.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data entry.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of appointment scheduling and managing waiting lists is desirable.
  • Confidence in using NHS or other computerised information systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and the appropriate handling of sensitive patient information.
