About the Museum

We are a world‑class visitor attraction and leading science research centre. Using the museum’s unique collections and our unrivalled expertise we tackle the biggest challenges facing the world today. We care for over 80 million objects spanning billions of years and welcome over five million visitors annually.

About

The Role

Help shape one of the museum’s most ambitious transformation programmes. As Project Manager within the Natural History Museum’s £202m NHM Unlocked Programme, you will lead major collection‑move projects that relocate and protect millions of invaluable specimens and archive items as part of the creation of a new science and digitisation centre at Thames Valley Science Park. You will coordinate complex logistics, build and lead specialist teams, influence the design of future collection‑storage facilities, and collaborate with scientists, collection experts, contractors and senior stakeholders.

About

You

We are seeking a project‑management professional with a strong track record delivering complex projects in a museum, heritage, collections or similarly complex operational environment. The successful candidate will combine excellent organisational, leadership and stakeholder‑management skills with the ability to plan and coordinate multiple interdependent work streams, manage budgets and contracts, and lead diverse teams through change. A confident communicator, they will be skilled in producing high‑quality reports and presentations for a range of audiences, using data and insight to support decision‑making.

Experience of collections management and large‑scale move projects would be highly desirable, alongside a recognised project‑management qualification.

What We Offer
  • 27.5 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays (full‑time equivalent)
  • Generous defined‑contribution Natural History Museum Pension Scheme (employer contribution 4 – 10 %)
  • Season ticket, bicycle and rental loan
  • Life insurance
  • Free admission to our exhibitions and many other paid exhibitions at museums, galleries and institutions across London and the UK.

  • Affordable membership to the Civil Service Sports Council.
  • Membership to our Sports and Social Association (for a small fee), including access to our in‑house gym and clubs.
Hybrid Working

We operate a hybrid working model that requires regular, weekly attendance. The precise pattern of days on site and working from home will be agreed with your manager.
