About the role:

As Underwriting Analytics and Data Standards Manager
, you'll lead the development of underwriting analytics capabilities across NFU Mutual while defining and embedding the data standards, controls and governance required to support trusted, consistent and scalable underwriting data. You'll strengthen underwriting decision making through robust analytics, making credible challenges, and taking clear data ownership.

Leading a team of up to four colleagues, including both existing specialists and new hires, you'll establish and grow a newly formed function. You'll set the strategic direction for underwriting analytics, oversee data standards and governance, support model performance, and develop insight that improves portfolio management, trading decisions and analytical maturity.

Working closely with stakeholders across Underwriting, Pricing, Risk, Actuarial, Customer Data Science, Enterprise Data, Technology and Architecture, you'll ensure underwriting priorities are represented across enterprise initiatives while helping shape the future direction of data and analytics across the business.

This role is based in our Tiddington Head Office, just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon. You communicate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders, provide constructive challenge, and bring strong critical thinking and decision making skills. With proven leadership capability, you develop high performing teams through coaching and mentoring, take accountability for outcomes, and build trusted relationships across the business.

To join NFU Mutual, you'll also bring:

  • A background in underwriting analytics
  • Advanced training, certification or extensive practical experience in analytics, data science, data governance, model risk or data management
  • Training or awareness in regulatory compliance, data governance, model governance, risk management or operational control frameworks relevant to underwriting and pricing decision making
  • Relevant professional insurance, underwriting, analytics, data management or financial services qualification, or equivalent practical experience
