DescriptionThe Opportunity
OCU Design are seeking an experienced Design Project Manager to lead design delivery across complex infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical awareness, stakeholder management skills, and the ability to coordinate high-quality design output from concept through to construction.
What You'll DoAs Design Project Manager, you will lead and coordinate design delivery across complex infrastructure projects, ensuring information is issued on time, to the right quality, and in a way that supports safe and efficient construction. You will work closely with project, engineering, commercial, and site teams, acting as the key link between stakeholders and helping to drive delivery from concept through to completion.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys leading multidisciplinary coordination, managing design risk, and working at the centre of project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of design across assigned projects
- Manage design programmes, deliverables, interfaces, and key milestones
- Work closely with clients, consultants, supply chain partners, and internal teams
- Support safe, buildable, and compliant design solutions in line with project and business requirements
- Monitor progress, manage change, and provide clear reporting to project leadership
We are looking for someone with a strong blend of technical understanding, delivery focus, and stakeholder management capability. You will ideally bring:
Essential
- A degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Strong experience in design engineering, design management, or multidisciplinary infrastructure projects
- Proven ability to manage design in complex project environments with multiple stakeholders and interfaces
- A good understanding of CDM 2015 roles, duties, and responsibilities
Desirable
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or capable of progressing towards professional accreditation
- Experience with HV/MV cable systems, substations, or related infrastructure environments
- Exposure to temporary works and construction delivery

- Organised, delivery-focused, and able to manage competing priorities
- A clear communicator with sound judgement and decision-making ability
Working Arrangements
- Primarily home-based, with regular visits to project sites
- Travel to project locations and company offices will be required
- A full UK driving licence will be required
