About

The Role

As Head of Delivery, you'll provide strategic and operational leadership for Bacton Gas Terminal and National Gas Transmission assets across Norfolk, including our compressor stations at King's Lynn and Diss. You'll be accountable for the performance, safety, resilience, and investment of nationally significant infrastructure that plays a vital role in keeping gas flowing safely and reliably to homes, businesses, and communities across Great Britain.

Why this role matters

Bacton Gas Terminal is one of the most strategically important entry points into Britain's gas transmission network. Alongside the compressor stations at King's Lynn and Diss, and the surrounding transmission infrastructure, these assets play a critical role in maintaining secure and reliable gas supplies across the country.

As a key member of the East Region leadership team, you'll shape how we operate, maintain, and invest in these nationally significant assets. Leading a large multidisciplinary workforce and overseeing significant operational and capital investment programmes, you'll be responsible for delivering safe, reliable, and resilient network performance while balancing operational priorities, regulatory obligations, and long-term asset strategy.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead the safe operation, maintenance, emergency response, and capital delivery activities across Bacton Gas Terminal, the King's Lynn and Diss compressor stations, and the surrounding transmission network
  • Develop and deliver delivery strategies that support National Gas objectives, regulatory obligations, and long-term network resilience
  • Inspire, develop, and lead multidisciplinary teams, creating a high-performing culture focused on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee the delivery of operational and capital programmes, ensuring high-quality outcomes, strong financial control, and value for money
  • Own substantial operational and capital investment portfolios worth millions of pounds, ensuring efficient delivery, strong financial performance, and value for customers
  • Build trusted relationships with regulators, customers, delivery partners, Trade Unions, and other key stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes
  • Drive innovation, manage operational risks, and ensure effective preparedness and response to network incidents and emergencies
What you'll bring

This role would suit an established senior leader from energy, utilities, transport, defence, manufacturing, or other critical infrastructure sectors who enjoys leading large-scale operations, shaping strategy, and delivering results through others.

Essential
  • Significant senior leadership experience within gas transmission, energy, utilities, or other complex critical infrastructure environments
  • A strong track record of leading large, multidisciplinary teams across operational and delivery functions
  • Experience delivering major capital programmes and operational plans within highly regulated environments
  • Strong safety leadership, with a commitment to creating a culture where everyone goes home safe every day
  • Proven ability to manage substantial operational and capital budgets and make sound commercial decisions
  • Experience building effective relationships with regulators, government bodies, customers, contractors, and other senior stakeholders
  • Strong judgement, resilience, and decision-making skills, particularly during high‑pressure operational or emergency…
