Main duties of the job The Corporate Services Manager will play a pivotal role in leading and directing the operational business planning and strategic financial management for the South Central Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN).

By ensuring robust stewardship and operational excellence, this role is central to the RDN’s mission to function as a single, transparent organisation with a shared vision for research delivery. You will drive the delivery of key strategic projects that create capacity and capability in research delivery. Your work will ensure value for money and foster effective, sustainable improvements that directly benefit research participants, the research delivery workforce, and the wider health and care system.

Reporting directly to the Head of Strategy, Research Engagement and Inclusion, you will collaborate with senior leadership across the RRDN and the RDN Coordinating Centre. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, newly established organisation, leveraging strong interpersonal and analytical skills to influence strategy and operational success. The Research Delivery Network (RDN) is an organisation consisting of 12 NIHR Regional RDNs (RRDNs) that work with a national Coordinating Centre and the Department of Health and Social Care to function as a single, transparent entity.

University Hospital Southampton serves as the Host Organisation for the South Central RRDN. The RRDNs have three primary roles: supporting research sites in the efficient delivery of funded research; strategically developing research capacity and capability, particularly in under-served communities; and collaborating with the Coordinating Centre to maintain a high-quality portfolio of viable studies responsive to the evolving health and care environment.

RRDNs aim to build excellent relationships with regional health and social care providers and Integrated Care Systems to promote research that benefits patients, the health system, and the economy as a whole.

Job Description And Main Responsibilities

Your role will involve:
  • Operational & Financial Planning:
    Leading regional business planning, performance monitoring, and financial management to ensure sustainable, value-for-money research delivery
  • Strategic Project Delivery:
    Managing a portfolio of strategic projects aimed at building capacity and capability across the research network
  • Performance & Data Oversight:
    Ensuring high-quality data reporting and compliance with national performance standards and governance frameworks
  • Team Leadership:
    Providing line management for the Strategy Project Facilitator, overseeing staff performance, development, and adherence to organisational objectives
Experience and Skills you will need to bring to the role:
  • Senior Leadership and Planning: A history of acting in a senior role, with specific experience of being involved in organisational planning, reporting activities, and financial management
  • Complex Project Management:
    The ability to lead and deliver complex projects across multiple agencies and stakeholders to tight deadlines, using a range of project management
