We are currently looking to appoint a Wales Officer on a full-time basis in our Wales Office in Cardiff. This is a pivotal role focused on delivering high-quality representation to NEU members, supporting and mentoring local Officers and Reps, and helping build strong, confident workplace structures for collective action and bargaining.
We Are Looking For People Who Can- Provide expert advice, coaching and mentoring to local Officers and Reps on individual and collective casework.
- Undertake complex casework and negotiations with employers across a range of educational settings, with sound knowledge of employment law
- Is a confident communicator and negotiator, with excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
- Can coach and develop others and has a track record of empowering activists and building local leadership.
- Support Branches in delivering development and organising plans aligned with national strategies.
- Full UK Driving License required (at the point of application to the role)
Although the role is based in the NEU Wales Office in Cardiff, you’ll be travelling regularly throughout the week across the region to meet with members and activists. There will also be some evening and weekend working with occasional overnight stays. NEU employees do have access to TOIL and a blended working policy that allows for some home working, to balance this level of required flexibility.
In addition to salary, we offer good conditions including 35 days’ annual leave plus Christmas closure days and a defined benefit pension scheme. Salary and benefits will be calculated pro-rata for part-time applicants.
