Office Manager / PA to Managing Director

Location;
Shropshire

We are working with an established construction business based in Shropshire, delivering residential and commercial projects with a strong reputation for quality workmanship and reliable service. The business operates a close-knit, hands-on environment, with a real focus on compliance, process and taking care of its people and clients alike.

This is a broad and varied Office Manager / PA role sitting at the centre of the business. You'll manage day-to-day office operations, purchasing and construction compliance, while providing close personal support to the Managing Director — including occasional assistance across two further businesses the MD owns. Hours are flexible, with the role based full time in the office initially, moving to some home working once training is complete.

This would suit an organised, construction-experienced Office Manager or PA who enjoys variety and structure in equal measure. You'll be confident liaising with everyone from site workers and subcontractors through to senior management, and comfortable being the trusted, central point of contact for a busy, growing business. In return, you'll get genuine autonomy, close exposure to senior leadership, and the chance to shape and own the compliance and office processes as the business continues to grow.

Responsibilities of an Office Manager / PA:

Own and maintain construction compliance records, including RAMS, worker certifications (CSCS/CPCS), inductions and accreditations such as CHAS, Construction line and Safe Contractor

Source and purchase materials, plant hire, PPE and site supplies, raising and tracking purchase orders through to delivery and invoice reconciliation

Manage servicing, MOT and calibration schedules for company vans, plant and site equipment

Provide PA support to the Managing Director, including diary management, correspondence, travel and meeting coordination

Oversee general office management, including supplier contracts, HR administration and new starter paperwork

Liaise directly with site workers, subcontractors and suppliers to embed and monitor compliance requirements

Provide occasional administrative support across two further businesses owned by the MD

Skills & Qualifications of an Office Manager / PA:

Previous experience within the construction industry, with a solid understanding of site operations and compliance requirements

Proven experience in an office management and/or PA role

Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities

Strong communicator, confident liaising across all levels from site workers to senior management, and proficient in Microsoft Office

Desirable: knowledge of construction compliance frameworks (e.g. CHAS, Construction line, Safe Contractor), purchasing or fleet/plant administration experience, or a recognised H&S qualification (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH)

Benefits of an Office Manager / PA:

Salary up to £40,000, dependent on experience

Flexible working hours — full time in the office initially, with some home working available after training

A varied, central role with genuine autonomy

Close exposure to senior leadership and the wider business

The opportunity to shape and own compliance and office processes

Full product and materials training provided

Join a stable, growing construction business
