Operations Manager

The Operations Manager has two main areas to the role. Firstly, to provide leadership and direction to all their direct reports, ensuring the highest levels of service are delivered, responsible for Health & Safety across the company, creating and nurturing a culture of excellence that supports our vision and values for the development of our people and business. The second core function of the Operations Manager is to proactively present Baxter Storey to the marketplace across South Wales.

It is expected they will pursue opportunities for future growth, working closely with the sales teams to assertively grow the business.

This role is highly visible and so you are always an ambassador, it is required that at least 60% of your time will be spent on site in client locations. Alternatively you have the option to work at home when not in a client location. You are required to be open-minded and flexible in an ever-changing and evolving business.

Whilst this role is predominantly based in the Cardiff and Newport area, it is a requirement of the role to travel across south Wales and also to the UK for wider business events and meetings.

• To actively participate and assist with sales leads, tenders, presentations, and site show rounds.
• Conduct market research to identify new business development opportunities and potential new market sectors to enter.
• Build relationships with prospective clients and mobilise new contracts
• Following-up on leads and securing appointments

• To monitor and have input into our Service Level Agreements for our clients and reporting back to the business where themes are developing with strong or weak performance.
• To build strong client relationships whilst ensuring that the onsite manager is the primary contact.
• To ensure your direct reports deliver to the client’s needs, requirements, and expectations in line with our contractual obligations and the companies’ vision and values.

To manage the finances within budget for each contract reporting back to the Operations Director as required.

• As a company Baxter Storey has many policies and procedures over several areas, i.e. H&S, HR, development, operational, systems, financial, insurance, health, and safety etc. You will be required to ensure you, and your direct reports are complaint with these at all times.
• Quarterly you will be required to audit the company’s sites for Health & Safety and ensure that all new policies for Health and Safety are communicated.

• To identify realistic but challenging self-development needs and to take full responsibility for your own development and learning with the support of the business.

• To actively work with others clients, suppliers, and the teams seeking out ideas for service improvements, feedback, and suggestions for development and to share this information up and down the company for the use of all.
• Must be able to challenge direct reports and clients in a positive way to gain the right outcome and not shy away from difficult decisions that require influencing skills
