Our client, a rapidly growing e-commerce business with a national footprint, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Logistics and Distribution Manager to lead their remote operations team. Based remotely but ideally situated within commuting distance of East London for occasional site visits, this role will be responsible for overseeing the entire logistics and distribution network, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery to customers across South Africa .
You will develop and implement strategies to optimize warehousing, transportation, and inventory management, driving best practices and leveraging technology to enhance performance. - Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive logistics and distribution strategies.
- Oversee all aspects of warehousing, inventory management, and order fulfillment processes.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and transportation carriers.
- Analyze logistics data to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and service levels.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and transportation regulations.
- Lead and develop a high-performing, geographically dispersed logistics team.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in logistics management, with a strong focus on distribution and supply chain operations.
- Proven experience in managing remote teams and operations.
- In-depth knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and transport management systems (TMS).
- Excellent strategic planning, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience in cross-functional collaboration.
