Senior Financial Controller

Our client, a dynamic and expanding company in the financial services sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Controller to join their team. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a blend of remote work and in-office collaboration at their Rustenburg location. The Senior Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, including financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance.

This role requires a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), excellent leadership skills, and a proactive approach to financial management. You will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, supporting strategic initiatives, and driving operational efficiency. The position requires active participation in team meetings and strategic planning sessions held at the office.

• Manage and oversee all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and treasury.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads to develop annual budgets and monitor performance against plan.
• Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit, ensuring all requests are handled efficiently and accurately.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making by senior management.
• Manage cash flow and treasury functions, optimizing liquidity and financial resources.
• Stay updated on accounting standards and regulatory changes, ensuring the company remains compliant.
• Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy and continuous improvement.
• Assist in the implementation of new accounting systems or software as needed.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, or CIMA is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 6-8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proven leadership abilities with experience managing and developing teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
• Must be willing to commute to the Rustenburg office for scheduled in-office days as part of the hybrid arrangement.
