Remote Senior Fleet Operations Manager

Our client, a rapidly expanding national logistics provider, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Fleet Operations Manager to lead their remote operations team. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to manage and optimize a significant fleet without the need for on-site presence at our East London base. You will be responsible for developing and implementing fleet management strategies, ensuring operational efficiency, cost control, and compliance with all regulations.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in fleet management, a strong understanding of logistics technology, and exceptional leadership and analytical skills. You will oversee a team of fleet coordinators and dispatchers, driving performance and continuous improvement across our network. • Develop and implement strategic fleet management policies and procedures to optimize performance and cost-efficiency.
• Oversee the daily operations of a large national fleet, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries.
• Manage a remote team of fleet coordinators and dispatchers, providing guidance, support, and performance management.
• Utilize advanced fleet management software and telematics to monitor vehicle performance, driver behavior, and operational KPIs.
• Analyze operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement in fleet utilization, fuel consumption, and maintenance costs.
• Ensure full compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
• Collaborate with procurement and maintenance departments to manage vehicle acquisition, servicing, and lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including drivers, clients, and external service providers.
• Lead initiatives for technological adoption and process enhancements within fleet operations.
• Prepare regular reports on fleet performance, operational costs, and strategic recommendations for senior management.

• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in fleet management, with a significant portion in a senior leadership role.
• Demonstrated success in managing large, geographically dispersed fleets and remote teams.
• In-depth knowledge of fleet management software, telematics, GPS tracking, and route optimization technologies.
• Strong understanding of South African transportation laws, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Exceptional leadership, team-building, and communication skills, with the ability to manage remotely.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to drive data-informed decisions.
• Experience in budget management and cost control initiatives within fleet operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field;
  Master's degree is a plus.
• Ability to work independently, manage complex projects, and deliver results in a remote work environment.
