Position SummaryQuality Assurance Technician 1 on 2nd Shift (2:00 pm-10:30 pm) at Royal Cup, Inc. Reports to the Quality Manager and builds on skills learned as a QA Lab Tech. The role works an 8-hour shift with limited overtime, striving for the highest quality standards in a food grade manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate has experience in food manufacturing, solid understanding of Safety & Food Safety Requirements, and expertise in quality assurance controls/testing procedures.
Candidates should be growth‑oriented and interested in progressing to QA Lab Technician II.
- Operate lab testing tools such as oxygen analyzer, agtron, refractometer, ro‑tap, scales, and brewing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Apply quality control and routine testing processes for lab tools and understand product specification sheets.
- Assist with periodic sampling, pulling product samples from production, and evaluating coffee and tea samples with sensory analysis.
- Identify non‑conforming issues, understand the Product/Equipment Hold policy, and investigate root causes.
- Prepare special samples for sales, marketing, customers, and other departments and document proper paperwork.
- Follow hold and release program, entering holds into the designated spreadsheet.
- Monitor adherence to plant policies and procedures and assist with co‑manufacturer sampling, certificates of analysis, magnet inspections, and SQF activities.
- Assist with green coffee and tea sampling and support GMP, quality, and food safety requirements.
- Maintain GMP, quality, and food safety standards; adhere to all company policies and guidelines.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Basic reading, writing, mathematics, and computer skills:
- Interpret specification sheets and correspondence.
- Perform basic calculations: add, subtract, multiply, divide.
- Operate basic office equipment: telephone, desktop computers, fax, copier.
- Use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Package handling experience (UPS or Fed Ex).
- Exceptional customer‑service attitude for internal and external customers.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently with organization, communication, and strong work ethic.
- Maintain an exceptional attendance record.
- Successfully complete the pre‑employment process.
- Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, climbing, grasping, typing, reading, talking, and hearing.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Frequent lifting or moving up to 50 pounds to chest height from floor.
- Work near production machinery, hand jacks, and forklifts.
- Work in variable temperatures.
