Role Context

The Autodesk Fusion Expert will bring practical manufacturing knowledge into an AI evaluation environment where machining recommendations must be tested against real production principles. The role focuses on determining whether proposed CAM strategies, CNC operations, tooling approaches, and Fusion 360 workflows are technically sound, efficient, and achievable. By translating hands-on manufacturing expertise into structured evaluation criteria, the specialist will help improve the reliability of AI-generated recommendations used in digital fabrication and production planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review CAM, CNC machining, and Autodesk Fusion 360 workflows for technical accuracy and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Evaluate AI-generated machining strategies, manufacturing sequences, and process recommendations.
  • Assess proposed toolpaths, operations, setup logic, and fabrication approaches against accepted manufacturing practices.
  • Identify inefficient, impractical, incomplete, or technically incorrect recommendations.
  • Examine manufacturing processes for productivity, repeatability, machining quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and refine structured rubrics for evaluating manufacturing workflows and AI-generated outputs.
  • Validate whether evaluation criteria accurately reflect real-world CAM and CNC requirements.
  • Provide clear technical feedback describing machining limitations, workflow risks, and potential improvements.
  • Document findings in a concise format that can be consistently understood and applied by project teams.
  • Collaborate with technical stakeholders to strengthen manufacturing evaluation standards.
  • Apply expert judgment when comparing alternative processes, machining approaches, and digital fabrication methods.
  • Maintain consistent review quality across complex manufacturing scenarios and engineering datasets.
Ideal Profile
  • Demonstrated professional experience with CAM, CNC machining, and digital manufacturing environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Fusion 360, including manufacturing and CAM functionality.
  • Strong understanding of computer-aided manufacturing principles, machining strategies, tooling, setups, and production workflows.
  • Practical knowledge of CNC process planning and manufacturing feasibility assessment.
  • Ability to identify technical inefficiencies and recommend more effective manufacturing approaches.
  • Experience creating, interpreting, or applying structured process evaluation criteria is advantageous.
  • Strong technical problem-solving capability with close attention to machining details and workflow accuracy.
  • Able to explain complex manufacturing issues clearly through written technical feedback.
  • Comfortable working independently within a remote contractor environment.
  • Previous AI experience is not required; manufacturing expertise and disciplined technical evaluation are the primary requirements.
