Our client is a well-established and highly respected print production and communications business based in London.

Working with a diverse range of commercial customers, they deliver high-quality printed products and marketing materials through a combination of in-house expertise and a trusted supplier network.

Due to continued growth and an increasing volume of work, they are seeking an experienced Pre-Press Manager to lead their pre-press and workflow function.

The Role

This is a key position within the business, responsible for managing the flow of artwork and print-ready files through the production process whilst ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy and efficiency.

The successful candidate will oversee the preparation, checking and processing of customer files for a wide range of printed products, ensuring all work is supplied to production in the correct format and to agreed specifications.

In addition to the technical pre-press responsibilities, the role will involve coordinating and managing the workload of Production Controllers to ensure projects are delivered on time and to customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the pre-press function.
  • Oversee the processing, checking and preparation of print-ready PDF files.
  • Ensure all artwork and files meet technical and production specifications.
  • Create and validate press-ready PDF workflows and output files.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures throughout the workflow process.
  • Manage workload allocation and priorities across the Production Controller team.
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure projects move efficiently through the production cycle.
  • Resolve technical file and artwork issues before production.
  • Drive continuous improvement within pre-press and workflow processes.
  • Maintain colour, file integrity and production standards across all projects.

We are interested in speaking with experienced Pre-Press Managers, Senior Pre-Press Operators, Studio Managers or Workflow Specialists who possess strong technical knowledge of commercial print production and digital file preparation.

You will ideally have:
  • Previous experience managing a pre-press, artwork or production workflow department.

  • A thorough understanding of colour management and print production processes.
  • Excellent organisational and workload planning skills.
  • Experience supervising or managing a team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multiple departments.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.

  • Key leadership role with significant responsibility.
  • Collaborative and professional working environment.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Long-term career development opportunities.
