Lead Production Chemist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Lead Production Chemist to join their established team in Centurion . This role is integral to ensuring the quality and efficiency of production processes within the Oil & Gas industry . You will oversee chemical analysis, develop treatment programs, and provide expert guidance on chemical applications to optimize production, minimize operational issues, and maintain environmental compliance.

• Develop, implement, and manage chemical treatment programs for oil and gas production facilities to prevent corrosion, scale, and other operational issues.
• Conduct advanced laboratory analysis of produced fluids, water samples, and other production streams to monitor chemical performance and identify challenges.
• Provide technical leadership and support to field operations and production teams on all chemical-related matters.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production chemistry problems, ensuring optimal asset integrity and production efficiency.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices in production chemistry, recommending their adoption where appropriate.
• Oversee inventory management and procurement of production chemicals, ensuring cost-effectiveness and supply chain reliability.

• Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in production chemistry within the Oil & Gas sector , with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Extensive knowledge of corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, demulsifiers, and other production chemicals.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques and analytical instrumentation for fluid analysis.
• Strong understanding of oilfield operations, fluid flow, and asset integrity principles.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to mentor junior staff.
