Key Responsibilities
  • Promote safe working practices and challenge unsafe behaviours where necessary.
  • Provide practical health, safety and environmental guidance to managers and employees.
  • Complete and review risk assessments, safe systems of work and operational controls.
  • Conduct regular H&S audits and drive actions through to completion.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities including fire safety, evacuation drills, spill response and first aid arrangements.
  • Encourage employee engagement through safety meetings, reporting initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain COSHH records and hazardous substance inventories.
  • Control and manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS), ensuring information is accessible to relevant personnel.
  • Lead preparations for ISO 14001 audits and manage resulting action plans.
  • Monitor waste management processes and ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
  • Work closely with operational teams, facilities and senior management to continually improve standards across the site.
About You
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental role.
  • Previous experience within a sheet metal, machining, fabrication or metallic manufacturing environment.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Good understanding of UK Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Experience carrying out investigations, audits and risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems and ISO 14001.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
  • Organised, proactive and capable of managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Practical, solutions-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills.
What's in it for You?
  • Salary of £40,000 - £45,000
  • Performance bonus paid every six months
  • Permanent position with a stable and growing manufacturer
  • Opportunity to make a genuine impact on site safety, compliance and environmental performance
