Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:Purdue University Fort Wayne is currently seeking a fulltime, onsite Assistant Director for Online Content in the Office of Strategic Communications. The Assistant Director for Online Content will serve as the key creator and project manager for all web and digital content for the university. This individual strategically creates, gathers, curates, and edits our compelling university story in support of innovative, university-wide online presences.

The annual salary for this position is $65,000.00.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the point person for all centrally produced online content, including the university’s website, top-level audience and landing pages, related microsites, and digital platforms. Evaluates, enhances, and updates content as required, with a keen and natural ability to help create a persuasive brand narrative across digital platforms while ensuring that all messages are accurate, consistent, and in alignment with university brand standards.
  • Responsible for supporting the editorial content development of a digital-first communication strategy that integrates major online content effectively throughout the university. Emphasizes core online communications within the university’s content management systems. Gains insights into our key audiences’ behaviors, user journeys, and overall experiences through metrics and analytics.
  • Works collaboratively with senior communicators throughout campus to develop joint strategies and content ideas as well as produce online initiatives that support student recruitment, the student experience, and campus and community engagement.
  • Strategically promotes university visibility and brand awareness. Supports development and shares knowledge and best practices as part of ongoing strategic campus partnerships that encourage content effectiveness, process efficiencies, and strong understanding of online goals and priorities. The position is an essential part of our in‑house strategic communications teams as we evolve and realign for more dynamic and integrated communication strategies.
  • Persuasively tells stories that are in the character of the PFW brand.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Journalism, English, Writing, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of content‑development experience in a marketing and communications or related field, as evidenced and supported by a portfolio.
  • Must possess the skills required to effectively organize web pages so that the content conveys the proper messages to the appropriate audiences.
  • Requires a high degree of editorial creativity, strong verbal and written communication skills, effective technical and project‑management abilities, an analytical approach to innovating within established digital formats and templates, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Requires an ability to solve problems independently, combined with a high degree of communication savvy to interact effectively with university colleagues.
  • The position may require presence and commitment before 8 a.m., after 5 p.m., and on weekends, both on and off campus.
  • Some local and regional travel may be required for meetings, events, and conferences.
  • As needed, this position may be required to communicate with other strategic communicators and senior administrators and/or perform key work tasks during off‑hours or off‑location to execute special projects or critical communications when conditions demand.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records Check policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in higher‑education communications, an in‑house corporation or institution, or an agency‑related marketing environment.
