Business Overview

New York Life Corporate Communications is seeking a dynamic communications professional to support New York Life Investment Management, an $800 billion, diversified global asset manager. The role involves executing a blend of strategic and tactical external and internal communications to shape announcements such as firm news, organizational changes, operational updates, promotional stories, business development, and trade/industry media relations programs. Key to success is the ability to quickly cultivate relationships with corporate communications teammates and internal business partners, including the Office of the CEO, product development, marketing, distribution, and HR.

You'll Do
  • With guidance from the NYLIM communications lead, help deliver NYLIM’s objectives by building and executing on internal and external communication strategies, while staying aligned with New York Life’s overall goals.
  • Collaborate with business partners and agencies to develop, execute, and maintain a calendar of communications initiatives.
  • Create and manage the drafting, review, and approval of materials including press releases, website, social media, intranet content, town hall scripts, key messages, and Q&As.
  • Implement plans that promote NYLIM’s objectives and drive employee engagement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with investment media.
  • Prepare spokespeople for media interviews and briefing documents.
  • Maximize reach and effectiveness of PR campaigns through collaboration with digitized content teams.
  • Monitor news and trends in investments and personal finance to identify emerging issues.
  • Manage workflow with the PR agency, including monthly reporting.
  • Measure and monitor communications to inform storytelling tactics.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications colleagues to ensure alignment of all messages.
  • Leverage current best practices and emerging technologies, such as generative AI tools, to enhance team capabilities and content quality.
What You'll Bring
  • Minimum 5 years’ media‑relations experience, with at least 2–3 years in asset management.
  • Strong media relations and engagement with financial press.
  • Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Creative, strategic thinker with a growth mindset.
  • Experience using AI‑powered communication tools to optimize engagement.
  • Ability to multi‑task and thrive under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Proactive and self‑motivated.
  • Strong partnering and collaborative skills across corporate communications.
  • Comfort with AI and emerging digital tools for content development.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Exemplary attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and interest in newsworthy investment trends and events.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $79,000–$113,000 per year.
Overtime:
Exempt.
Bonus:
Discretionary bonus eligible; sales bonus not applicable.
Base salary determined by experience, skills, qualification, and location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive programs.
