Communications Director

The National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA) is recruiting a full-time Communications Director. The position is responsible for developing, organizing and implementing NASAA's communications strategies. Using an array of digital and print mediums, the communications director oversees the timely delivery of information and the creation of effective channels for communicating NASAA's work and the value of state and jurisdictional arts agencies.

The communications director provides editorial and production oversight for NASAA's publications and electronic communications, including NASAA's websites and brand.

NASAA is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization that offers a professional and friendly working atmosphere in a small‑office setting located in downtown Washington, D.C., near Metro Center. This position is eligible for hybrid and remote work.

• Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English or a related field, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience
• Five years of experience in editorial work and website development or management, including working collaboratively with a professional team
• Experience in project management and working in a public policy environment are strongly preferred

• Superior written and oral communication skills and attention to editorial detail
• Understanding of design principles and the ability to prepare page layouts and communications that use images and other visual elements effectively
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and bulk email distribution systems
• Intermediate skills in Adobe Suite, Outlook, Excel and Power Point
• Technical proficiency with Word Press; familiarity with HTML is helpful
• Effective organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and tasks
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

The communications director position is a full-time, salaried (exempt) position including benefits. The starting annual salary range is $90,000 - $100,000, depending upon qualifications and experience. Review the full job description here:  .
