The Treaty and Aboriginal Land Stewards Association of Alberta (TALSAA) is a federally registered not- for-profit organization that is Aboriginal-controlled, community-based, and membership-driven dedicated to raising professional capacity in First Nation land management.

OVERVIEW

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator (MCC) plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the TALSAA by raising awareness of its programs, building engagement with Alberta First Nations, and promoting land management as a valued and professional field. Reporting to the Executive Director, the MCC is responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies, communications plans, and digital campaigns that reflect the organization’s goals and values.

This position leads the coordination of outreach efforts across multiple channels, including email, social media, newsletters, and the TALSAA website, ensuring clear, consistent, and culturally appropriate communication with members, partners, and the public. The MCC also plays a key role in promoting national and regional initiatives, including TALSAA training opportunities, the Professional Lands Management Certificate Program (PLMCP), and the work of the National Aboriginal Lands Managers Association (NALMA).

The MCC manages digital platforms and supports content creation for campaigns, toolkits, newsletters, and reports. The role also includes planning and executing communications strategies for events, supporting the development of annual public reports, and gathering community feedback to inform outreach efforts. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the MCC assists with membership engagement strategies, monitors trends, and supports reporting requirements for Indigenous Services Canada.

This is a dynamic, multifaceted position that requires initiative, adaptability, and strong writing, design, and digital media skills. The MCC must be able to manage multiple projects, respond to time-sensitive communications, and represent TALSAA with professionalism and cultural integrity at regional and national gatherings. Through this work, the MCC strengthens relationships across Alberta’s land management network and supports the long-term sustainability and visibility of TALSAA’s work.
