About the Trust

We're one of the UK’s biggest charities and we care for 2,000 miles of canals, rivers, docks and reservoirs because we believe life is better by water. We're looking for people who support our cause and want to make a difference for future generations. Could this be you?

Along with our waterways we also manage museums, archives and the country's third largest collection of historic buildings, as well as the nature and wildlife that calls our canals home. All of this enables us to provide wellbeing opportunities for millions of people each year.

Navigate your future and lock in your career as we keep our canals open and alive.

Our National Campaigns Team leads the development and delivery of high-impact, integrated campaigns that build national understanding of the value of canals and rivers and mobilise public support to protect them. Working across marketing, PR, content, social media, fundraising and influencer engagement, we create moments that connect people to waterways - championing nature, promoting wellbeing, highlighting environmental challenges and supporting fundraising and volunteering.

We’re seeking a proactive and resourceful Campaigns Manager to plan and deliver engaging and impactful multi-channel campaigns that raise brand awareness, deepen understanding of us as a charity, and build our supporter base. Working with the National Campaigns Manager, you’ll ensure each campaign reaches the right audiences, strengthens our brand, drives support and helps protect canals for future generations.

This role follows 37 hours, Monday to Friday working pattern. The vacancy will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required. Regular travel across our network will be required. See here:

They will drive performance through effective planning, timeline and budget management, ensuring campaigns are inclusive, aligned to organisational objectives and delivered to the highest standard. Working across campaigns, creative, digital channels and advertising, they will monitor performance, evaluate results against agreed outcomes and use insight and data to continuously improve campaign effectiveness and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Select and manage agencies to deliver cost-effective, creative and impactful campaigns.
  • Provide creative and strategic direction – contribute to campaign ideation, manage the creative approach, and ensure all work is on-brand, high-quality and audience‑focused.

  • Manage budgets and resources – plan, track, and ensure efficient use of campaign budgets and resources.
  • Monitor performance and optimise – track progress, analyse data, report on outcomes, and use insights to improve future campaigns.
  • Collaborate closely with the multi-disciplinary Campaigns Team, providing support where needed across core team work streams, including celebrity, influencer, TV and filming activity.
  • Ensure compliance, campaign processes and brand integrity – embed campaign frameworks, follow legal and internal policies, and maintain the Trust’s brand, tone of voice and style.
  • The role is home‑based, with a need for flexibility to meet its demands, including travel across our network for meetings, team days and campaign or marketing activities.
