Science Writer & Communications Officer at Front Line Genomics

Remuneration

£30,000-£36,000 salary dependent on experience, plus a £2,500+ uncapped bonus dependent on overall business performance. Prospects for progression are excellent.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for developing and executing Front Line Genomics’ content strategy, with a strong focus on generating high-value interview-led and written content that delivers unique insights beyond what can be accessed through AI and publicly available sources.

This is a hugely varied and interesting role, with excellent development and progression prospects. It suits someone who loves science, is scientifically curious, loves speaking with scientists, will enjoy uncovering and presenting intelligence that supports our social mission, has good commercial awareness, can write, edit and proof, and wants to work remotely as part of a close-knit, intelligent and friendly team.

Front Line Genomics is a for‑profit organisation delivering genomics benefits to patients faster. We support health care organisations, academia, pharmaceutical companies and technology firms, and we host the Festival of Genomics & Biodata in London and Boston.

Working Location

The role is based remotely, with 1 day in London per month, plus attendance of Festivals in London and Boston. You can be based anywhere in the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Content Strategy and Editorial Planning
    • Develop and execute a structured, forward‑looking content plan aligned with Front Line Genomics’ strategic priorities.
    • Ensure content is timely, relevant, and captures the “zeitgeist” of the industry.
  • Interview‑Led Content Development
    • Lead the development of an interview‑driven content model, delivering approximately five interviews per week across multiple formats.
    • Conduct interviews across formats including:
    • Extract high‑value, proprietary insights that differentiate Front Line Genomics’ content from AI‑generated information.
  • Website Ownership and Content Management
    • Oversee and manage the Front Line Genomics website (Word Press).
    • Publish and manage all content on the website, ensuring consistency and quality.
    • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date company information on the website.
    • Leverage the website as a central platform to promote all Front Line Genomics activities and products.
  • Newsletter Strategy and Execution
    • Own the development, writing, and distribution of the Front Line Genomics newsletter.
    • Define and evolve the newsletter’s value proposition to ensure it is engaging, distinctive, and aligned with the brand voice.
    • Monitor and optimise key performance metrics.
  • Editorial Quality Control (Proofing and Editing)
    • Act as the final editorial and proofing checkpoint for much of the content and marketing material produced across the organisation.
    • Ensure all output is accurate, clear, consistent, and aligned with Front Line Genomics’ tone and standards.
  • Marketing and Social Media Support
    • On occasion, support in developing high‑quality written content for marketing and social media activities.
    • Support the development of a content‑rich social media strategy that reflects Front Line Genomics’ proximity to its audience.
    • Create content that drives engagement, strengthens brand positioning, and supports conversion objectives.
  • Commercial Alignment and Content Repurposing
    • Work closely with the marketing and sales teams to align content output with marketing and commercial objectives, supporting lead generation and audience development.
    • Develop content that can be repurposed across multiple formats and channels.
  • Integration with Events and Reports
    • Align content/interview schedules with Front Line Genomics’ wider product portfolio where appropriate.
    • Support the amplification of these products through targeted, relevant content.
    • Oversee the development of Leader’s Exchange reports in collaboration with the production team.
    • Ensure effective capture of insights from Leader’s Exchange meetings.
  • Performance Tracking and Reporting
    • Monitor and analyse performance across content channels.
