Civic Digits is looking for someone enthusiastic and self-motivated to join our growing organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for someone keen to work with a small but vibrant team across theatre, technology, and activism, increasing reach and engagement across Scotland and internationally.
Job DescriptionCivic Digits CIC is looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, imaginative, and self-motivated, who will be developing and delivering marketing campaigns in order to increase engagement and name-recognition for the organisation.
This is a fixed-term contract for one year, beginning Monday 20th July 2026 and ending Friday 16th July 2027 inclusive, with possibility of extension or renewal (actual dates tbd).
The Marketing and Communications Officer will work out of our office in Edinburgh (EH1 2EL
), with flexibility for remote working.
Normal working hours are 10am-6pm, Monday-Friday, with some weekend and out-of-hours working as required. The hours of work are 1.5 days (10.5 hours) per week, with possibility of expansion; the application of these hours can be agreed upon to suit the mutual needs of the successful candidate and the company.
The Marketing and Communications Officer would ideally be in place by Monday 20th July 2026. Please indicate your ability to meet that start date within your application, or the date to which you would be able to commit.
Job RequirementsNo formal education is required for this position.
Essential- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrable visual design skills.
- A good working knowledge of social media and video hosting platforms, and their content creation functions, particularly You Tube and Instagram.
- Creative copywriting skills.
- Comfortable taking photos and filming video.
- Attention to detail.
- Customer service experience.
- Personable, confident, and able to work well with a range of people.
- Demonstrable familiarity with Adobe Design Suite.
- Experience managing website content.
- Familiarity with Mailchimp.
- Experiencing using Google Business Suite (Gmail and Google Drive in particular).
- A commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Familiarity with the Scottish theatre and arts sector.
- Edinburgh-based.
Working closely with the Executive Director, the successful candidate will develop marketing campaigns in line with the organisational marketing strategy, and deliver these with quantifiable results across our digital platforms. With keen attention to branding, they will produce promotional materials and press content, helping to grow our network and increase our audiences. We are looking for someone very familiar with You Tube and Instagram, able to efficiently create regular video content and striking images, and who is adaptable to new digital platforms and trends.
