The Africa Internal Communications Manager is responsible for developing, coordinating and delivering complex internal communications across Trans Union Africa (TUA) and the Global Capability Centre Africa (GCCA), using a unified ‘One TU’ approach. As a collaborative partner and trusted internal influencer, the role provides advanced consultation to senior leaders, shaping communication strategies that strengthen leadership visibility, deepen employee engagement, and drive strategic alignment across diverse Africa markets.
This is a remote position that may require occasional in‑person attendance at work‑related events at the discretion of management.
- Design and deliver sophisticated communication channels, frameworks and storytelling experiences that enhance associates’ understanding of Trans Union’s mission, culture, strategy and priorities, while integrating TUA and GCCA into a cohesive, high‑impact internal communications program aligned to global standards.
- Lead select external communications activities supporting Africa’s ‘employer of choice’ objectives, including social media, website content, internal/external employer brand initiatives, talent‑focused events and award submissions (e.g., BPESA).
- Develop and maintain the internal communications strategy/plan for all Africa markets and entities, adopting a ‘one TU’ approach.
- Ensure alignment to wider International and Enterprise frameworks/processes.
- Set annual goals and targets aligned to stakeholders and global reporting requirements (e.g., Corp Affairs and Comms), ensuring an integrated approach to all activity.
- Plan and coordinate activity around key topics, events and initiatives, bringing together business‑wide campaigns that position Trans Union as an employer of choice in Africa.
- Manage SLAs and other dependencies, ensuring they are understood.
- Evolve KPI reporting and evaluation metrics in the region as required, aligning activity to wider strategic business goals.
- Maintain core materials for the ongoing internal communications program (e.g., overall strategy, tactical activity planners, key message and briefing documents).
- Collaborate with the Africa External Communications Advisor, supporting multi‑channel campaign elements as required.
- Enhance and build greater capabilities for internal communications activity in the region, helping bring business entities and regions closer together.
- Operate through an omnichannel approach consisting of intranet updates, stories, town halls, internal events, group chats/instant messaging, email and more.
- Serve as a supporting member of the wider crisis/incident communications team / DIRT (Data Incident Response Team).
- Provide internal communications consultancy advice directly to senior leadership and wider functions as required.
- Support wider internal and external stakeholder outreach, facilitating knowledge sharing and coordination for key initiatives such as BPESA and talent events.
- Develop annual strategic internal communication plans that align key messaging, positioning and measurable objectives with overall Global and assigned business unit goals.
- Build productive relationships and identify compelling stories and activities to showcase employer of choice status.
- Utilize strong writing skills to bring stories to life in an engaging manner.
Hybrid Position:
For positions based in South Africa, preference will be given to suitably qualified candidates from designated groups in line with the company's Employment Equity plan and targets. Applicants must reside in a fibre‑ready home, with a minimum 100
Mbps fibre line (must be installed or upgraded by day one of employment). Certain roles may also require a clear credit record.
