This is an exciting opportunity to work on some of the UK's most significant infrastructure and development projects, helping clients build trusted relationships with communities and stakeholders.
The RoleAs an Engagement Consultant, you’ll play a key role in delivering stakeholder engagement, public consultation and communication programmes across a diverse portfolio of projects. Working alongside experienced engagement specialists, you’ll help clients communicate effectively, gather valuable feedback and support informed decision‑making. This role offers the opportunity to act as a trusted advisor while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across WSP to deliver high‑quality engagement and communications activities.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
- Creating clear, engaging and accessible communications that help communities and stakeholders understand projects and potential impacts.
- Supporting the delivery of public consultations, stakeholder engagement programmes and community relations initiatives.
- Organising and coordinating engagement activities, including events, exhibitions, workshops, webinars and surveys.
- Analysing consultation feedback and stakeholder insights, identifying key themes and presenting findings through reports and recommendations.
- Developing engagement materials such as websites, virtual consultation platforms, brochures, fact sheets, posters, banners and public‑facing maps.
- Providing communications and engagement support to projects across the UK and internationally.
- Working closely with project teams to ensure engagement activities are delivered effectively, on time and within budget.
- Contributing to the development of engagement strategies, plans and reporting.
You’ll join a collaborative UK‑wide team of more than 40 communications, engagement and environmental professionals who are passionate about delivering meaningful engagement that makes a difference. Reporting to the Regional Engagement Team Lead, you’ll work in a supportive environment that encourages professional development, knowledge sharing and career progression. We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements, combining office collaboration with home working.
WhatWe’re Looking For Essential
- Degree‑qualified, or equivalent experience within communications, engagement, consultation, public affairs or a related field.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, plain‑English content.
- Experience producing communication materials such as newsletters, websites, fact sheets, brochures or stakeholder updates.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrable experience in communications, engagement or stakeholder management.
- Experience with in infrastructure, transport, utilities, water, environment or energy sectors.
- Experience supporting the development of engagement strategies, consultation programmes and reporting.
- Experience managing the production process for communication materials, including design and print coordination.
- Experience planning and delivering both virtual and face‑to‑face engagement events.
- Membership of a relevant professional body.
