About the role

This new position involves leading BISC’s digital communication and media engagement, raising the organisation’s profile and brand the leading advocate, expert voice and convenor for Baltic security matters in the region, in the rest of Europe and internationally.

Key responsibilities:
  • Designing and implementing a communications strategy to create coherent narratives aligned with BISC’s mission, and to boost the impact of BISC’s research, analysis and expertise;
  • Curating and originating digital content in line with this strategy, for publication on the BISC website and social media channels (X, Linked In), or in other media;
  • Working closely with BISC colleagues to showcase their advocacy, research and convening activities;
  • Create visual and numerical content (charts, tables, infographics and maps) to complement BISC’s written work;
  • Manage media enquiries and develop, grow and maintain strong relations with key media in the UK and Baltic countries;
  • Track and evaluate performance by collecting and analyzing media engagement data to improve evolving communications and media strategy for greater impact.
  • Lead on preparing regular BISC newsletters for various audiences using digital tools.
  • Provide staff and BISC’s executive board with regular evaluations of BISC external communications.
  • Lead on BISC’s brand communications toolkit and keep it up to date and expand depending on needs.
  • Produce creative assets and support fundraising and internal communications.
About you:

The successful candidate will have the following qualities

  • able to work in a small, highly motivated team,
  • excellent English-language digital and editorial skills, including fast turn-arounds and advanced copy-editing, and
  • in-depth knowledge of the Baltic states (based on long‑term residency, academic or professional expertise, or similarly substantial connections).

You will be a highly organized and experienced communications and media professional, with previous work experience in media, think tanks, research, non-profit, policy and advocacy-focused organisations.

You will have:

  • A professional qualification or substantial experience in media, communications, politics, economics, security or government.
  • Strong communications and relationship-building skills, and practical experience in using communications and media work as an influencing and advocacy tool.
  • A proven track record of working with the backend of websites, CRM and video/design software.
  • Copyediting, story‑telling and editing skills.
  • You will be proactive, creative and have a great eye for detail, able to work collaboratively in a remote work‑setting.
