Purpose of Position

The Senior Writer provides expert writing and editorial services for Destination British Columbia’s global marketing communications. This role is responsible for crafting high-quality drafts for all omnichannel marketing materials, including web stories, digital ads, and emails. As the gatekeeper of the brand voice, the Senior Writer establishes the writing tone for each channel and ensures all copy is customer-first, engaging, and inspiring for key target audiences.

The position involves managing writer contractors in an editorial capacity and managing internal copy flow between teams. The Senior Writer collaborates closely with the Integrated Marketing Team to meet creative business needs while applying modern writing trends, including GEO-friendly (Generative Engine Optimization) best practices.

Specific Accountabilities
  • Develops SNBC’s family of brands (the Iconics) voice, with each voice being distinctive and captures a certain target international or global audience.
  • Leads the development and delivery of training on brand copy writing tools for internal staff, regional and national partners, destination marketing organizations (DMOs/RDMOs), and international stakeholders.
  • Is the owner and acts as a steward of SNBC’s family of brands voice, ensuring all communications are aligned with established brand standards, tone, and messaging guidelines.
  • Creates, edits and refines a wide variety of materials, excelling in both long-form (web stories, articles) and short-form (digital ads, social copy, emails) content for a domestic, national, and international audiences
