Account Manager, Digital Marketing, Marketing Communications, Client Relationship Management
Reports to: Account Director
Location: Workhouse Ribchester office (3 days/week) and the client's Manchester head office (1–2 days/week)
Team: Client Services — key account team
This is a great opportunity to join Workhouse's Client Services team, working on one of our well-established client accounts in a close, collaborative partnership.
The account is led by our Account Director. This is a genuine growth opportunity: the successful candidate will work closely alongside them, learning the business, its needs and its people, and building strong relationships directly with the client, with real scope to take on increasing responsibility across the account as that experience builds.
The team supporting this account is close-knit and hard-working, and has historically been strongly print-focused. A growing share of activity is now moving into digital channels, which is the gap this role is designed to fill.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely alongside the Account Director, attending meetings at the client's Manchester head office and helping turn discussions into clear briefs and actions.
- Own the digital dimension of the client's marketing activity: email campaigns, the migration of existing offline/print promotions into digital formats, and social channels, alongside the wider campaign planning already underway.
- Take a leading role, working closely with developers and project managers, in fronting their intranet-style platform that holds a large amount of promotion data and is an important operational tool for them.
- Get involved with the clients new website, including its landing page-building and ad unit capability, and be part of its ongoing programme of continual improvement.
- Take responsibility for planning and delivering digitally-led campaigns end to end, working with Workhouse's project managers and internal delivery team, who provide support but look to this role to lead and take ownership.
- Build genuine working relationships with client stakeholders, including senior decision-makers, so that recommendations carry weight and activity keeps moving even when the Account Director is unavailable.
- Develop a strong working knowledge of the client's business, promotions and category over time, to support well-informed campaign recommendations.
- Provide continuity and cover for the account when the Account Director is on holiday or otherwise out of office, keeping projects moving and stakeholders informed.
- Over time, build towards a position of greater account leadership and responsibility as your experience and relationships with the client grow.
This is a marketing role first and a digital specialism second, we are not looking for a performance marketer. We're looking for someone who can plan and deliver rounded marketing campaigns that increasingly happen online, and who has the presence to sit in a room with senior stakeholders and be taken seriously.
- Around 3–5 years' experience, ideally gained at a marketing or advertising agency; candidates with strong client-side, tactical marketing experience will also be considered.
- Genuinely digitally focused: comfortable with data and spreadsheets, and confident planning and delivering campaigns across digital channels (email, social, digital promotions).
- Strong campaign planning and delivery skills across a broad marketing remit, not just one channel or discipline.
- The gravitas and personality to sit alongside senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Someone who can take ownership, be trusted to run with things, and keep the account moving forward with confidence.
- We are as interested in capability and personality as in seniority, the title reflects the level of trust and responsibility the role carries, not a rigid experience bar.
The role is based primarily out of Workhouse's Ribchester office, where the rest of the account team is in five days a week, alongside one to two days a week at the client's head office in Manchester alongside the Account Director. Occasional home working (around one day a week) may be possible, but this is not a role suited to someone seeking a fixed hybrid pattern, client and team presence are central to how this account operates.
