About This RoleNow is one of the most exciting moments in the history of the Green Party. With record-breaking membership growth, rising public support with record polling growth, and on the back of record-breaking local elections and our historic win in Gorton and Denton, our media team is expanding to meet the scale of this moment. We’re looking for a driven, politically savvy Assistant Press Officer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to work flexibly as part of a small, dynamic team shaping the national conversation.
To support the delivery of effective and timely media communications that strengthen the profile of the Green Party and its elected representatives, the Assistant Press Officer will assist with media monitoring, press office administration, drafting communications materials and supporting media activity across the Party.
A knowledge of social media is an advantage, but note this is to work in the press team, not the social media team. If you have sharp political instincts, excellent writing skills, and a passion for climate and social justice and democracy, we’d love to hear from you.
Media MonitoringMonitor news coverage and political developments, and compile media summaries and daily news briefings.
Drafting & ContentDraft press releases, quotes, Q&As and lines to take under the supervision of senior colleagues.
Campaigns & EventsSupport media activity around campaigns, launches, visits, conferences and major Party events.
Press Office SupportMaintain media contact databases and press office systems, and support spokespeople at appearances.
The role is flexible, ideally London based and able to work from our Lambeth office with some home working. It reports to the Press Manager and works closely with the Communications Team. Some experience in communications, media, journalism, politics or campaigning is essential, and may have been gained through paid work, internships, volunteering or student media.
