Black Snow Agency
Job Description
We're not looking for just any Marketing Manager. We're looking for someone who understands what an agency of the future actually looks like and what its clients and its own people want to see from it. That's why we call this role Marketing and Growth Manager, not just Marketing Manager.
That means dynamic, profit-driven, and strategically minded, with serious digital experience, a strong network, and the ability to sell at the highest level. Most importantly, you enjoy working with fun and talented people.
This is a dual-purpose role. Approximately 50% of your time will be focused on Black Snow's own marketing - strengthening our brand, growing our visibility, building our reputation, and generating demand across South Africa, the UK, Europe, and key African markets. The other 50% will support the broader agency growth agenda - working alongside the Managing Director, Head of Client Service, and wider team on new-business opportunities, pitches, RFPs, events, partnerships, and initiatives that help us win and grow client relationships.
You'll sit at the intersection of brand, marketing, and new business. You won't be responsible for closing every opportunity, but you will be expected to help create it, shape it, and give Black Snow the strongest possible position to win it.
What You'll Do- Own Black Snow's own marketing and brand strategy - website, content, thought leadership, SEO, paid media, and outbound - with clear monthly targets for qualified leads and pipeline value.
- Own our marketing CRM, campaign tracking, and performance reporting, and keep a constant pulse on competitors, market trends, and digital best practice.
- Support the managing director and head of client service on new-business opportunities - prospect research, pitch strategy, RFPs, proposals, and presentations - and build our credentials, case studies, and new-business collateral.
- Track the new-business pipeline from first contact through to close, and play an advisory role on client engagements alongside day-to-day support for the client relations team (pitches, retention touchpoints, relationship management).
- Help expand Black Snow's footprint into the UK, Europe, and selected African markets - research, positioning, and relationship-building in new geographies.
- 50% Black Snow brand and marketing - own the agency's marketing strategy, positioning, content, digital presence, PR, thought leadership and demand generation.
- 50% growth and new business - support pitches, proposals, RFPs, events, partnerships, prospecting and new-business opportunities.
- Help grow Black Snow beyond South Africa, with a focus on priority opportunities across the UK, Europe and Africa.
- Work closely with and report into the Black Snow management team.
- Help build and track a qualified new-business pipeline, while final negotiation and closing remain primarily with senior management.
- 5+ years' experience in an agency, B2B marketing, professional services or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of brand building and how agencies generate and win new business.
- Broad digital marketing knowledge across SEO, paid media, content, social, email and demand generation.
- Experience supporting pitches, proposals, RFPs and new-business opportunities.
- Comfortable with CRM, marketing automation and outbound prospecting tools.
- Strong writing, presentation and communication skills.
- Confident engaging with senior decision-makers, prospects, partners and clients.
- Able to identify commercial opportunities and distinguish meaningful pipeline from marketing activity.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
- Able to coordinate creative, digital, content and client-service teams.
- Highly organised, hands-on and accountable.
- International or multi-market B2B experience would be an advantage.
