Community Relations Coordinator

The Community Relations Coordinator promotes community awareness of the Community Music School of Webster University among current and prospective students, parents, educators, key influencers for potential students, and potential donors. Markets and recruits students for all CMS programs. Manages the CMS website, social media accounts, and print and digital marketing materials. Coordinates all marketing efforts in conjunction with key administrators and the Webster Global Marketing Communications and LGCFA office.

Reports to the CMS Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as marketing liaison among the Community Music School (CMS), Webster University, and the community at large.
  • Raises visibility in the region for the CMS among potential donors and key influencers for potential students.
  • Monitors and updates the CMS website and social media accounts.
  • Develops and monitors marketing and advertising plan with CMS Director.
  • Designs, produces, and distributes all CMS digital and print materials.
  • Communicates with constituents via email using Emma email system. Creates and distributes monthly e-newsletters.
  • Informs local media of CMS events, programs and student/faculty accomplishments.
  • Produces publications of the Community Music School with CMS staff for copy, graphic designers, printers, and mailing sources. Coordinates photo sessions for publications and digital marketing.
  • Represents the School at targeted conferences and events. Creates and updates displays.
  • Collects, monitors, and evaluates data regarding past, current, and prospective students and parents to inform marketing practices.
  • Monitors and updates mailing and email lists.
  • Assists with planning and implementing special events.
  • Develops plans to connect with alumni and promote alumni programs.
  • Provides information about the CMS programs to libraries, schools, clubs, and relevant venues
  • Monitors trends in music education and related activities.
  • Prepares student enrollment reports, NASM enrollment report and organization data.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represents CMS at 2-3 summer recruitment fairs per year.
  • Hosts some School Recitals and coordinates annual Faculty Showcase.

Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. remote position; occasional on-site and weekend work required.

Requisite Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years in community relations, marketing, recruitment and/or project management.

Functional/technical Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Strong organizational skills and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be competent with Excel, Microsoft Word, Office 365, Teams, student management systems, websites, and social media. Experienced with Constant Contact, Emma, or similar email systems.
  • Ability to exercise important human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with the University and community.
