Organizational ContextThe Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) seeks a Junior Communications Individual Contractor in Geneva. This role supports the Global Alliance for Human Rights initiative, aiming to establish a strong public identity and position it for the 80th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Job PurposeThe Junior Communications Individual Contractor will assist the Global Alliance for Human Rights in developing and implementing its communication strategy. The primary objective is to create a coherent, recognizable, and engaging public identity for the Alliance. This involves supporting its positioning as an innovative, action-oriented, multi-stakeholder mobilization effort leading up to a significant anniversary. The role contributes to enhancing the Alliance's visibility and impact through strategic communication, ensuring its messaging effectively reaches target audiences and stakeholders.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement the Global Alliance’s communication strategy. Draft an advocacy calendar in collaboration with creative agencies and partners. Produce compelling social media content optimized for various platforms, utilizing content creation, design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite), and basic video editing for short-form multimedia. Support partner social media and digital content production, including developing strategic messaging guidelines. Research and draft impact stories for newsletters, reports, and external materials, aligning with human rights principles and UN standards.
Stay updated on communication trends and technologies. Assist in developing creative campaign concepts and materials (digital, print, social media, email, multimedia). Ensure communication materials effectively convey organizational impact and comply with branding. Provide strategic advice on digital media and website design. Monitor platform analytics and audience engagement for content optimization and reporting. Adapt messaging for diverse audiences in coordination with regional partners.
Experience
At least two years of experience in public information, journalism, marketing, or related fields is required. This includes experience producing social media and multimedia content, using content creation/design tools, and creating digital assets. Experience in strategic communication advice for social media and web is also required. Proficiency in video production, graphic design (e.g., Adobe Suite), and social media analytics tools is necessary.
