Position: Digital Media & Design Specialist

Reports to: Strategic Communications & Impact Senior Manager

Status: Full-time, non-exempt

Location: Remote – priority given to Kansas residents

Child Care Aware of Kansas (CCAKS) is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Digital Media & Design Specialist to manage day-to-day communications activities, digital content, and publication processes. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on collaboration, has a knowledge of childcare, and brings fresh ideas to the team.

The Specialist will work under the leadership of the Strategic Communications & Impact Senior Manager to ensure consistent, engaging, and on-brand communications across all channels, including social media, email, the website, and Kansas Child Blog. We are a small but mighty team helping to connect Kansas families and childcare providers to support and resources!

• Create, schedule, and monitor social media content using Buffer, ensuring alignment with organizational messaging and funder required outcomes.
• Track engagement metrics, prepare reports, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with internal teams to collect stories, photos, and content for campaigns.

• Manage production of Kansas Child Blog, acting as lead and liaison and coordinating with internal committees and external contributors.
• Ensure deadlines, quality standards, and brand consistency are met for all publications.
• Coordinate editorial calendar and ensure smooth workflow from content creation to publication.

• Produce branded graphics, infographics, promotional and consumer education resources, and visual assets for both digital and print materials.
• Ensure all communications adhere to organizational style, tone, and visual standards.

• Draft, proofread, edit, and schedule newsletters, emails, flyers, and campaign materials.
• Support website updates and content management to ensure clarity, accessibility, and brand alignment.
• Assist with event promotion, training announcements, and other organizational communications.
• Contribute creative ideas and solutions to improve messaging, digital presence, and audience engagement.
• Maintain organized project files, templates, and assets for team use.
• Support Strategic Communications Senior Manager in achieving department goals.

• 3+ years of experience in communications, marketing, digital media, or related field.
• Experience with social media and social media management platforms (e.g., Buffer, Facebook, X, Blue Sky, Linked In) and analytics.
• Demonstrated ability to create digital and print media that is visually engaging and on brand.
• Experience with web design (Word Press) and analytics tools (Google Analytics).
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Proficiency with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent.
• Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Collaborative, flexible, and proactive in problem-solving.
