Public Relations Specialist

Our client is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Public Relations Specialist to join their remote-first communications team. • Assist in the development and execution of PR strategies and campaigns.
• Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other PR materials.
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, and other media influencers.
• Monitor media coverage and industry trends, providing relevant insights and reports.
• Respond to media inquiries and facilitate interviews for spokespeople.
• Support event planning and execution for media engagement activities.
• Manage and update media contact databases.
• Contribute to content creation for social media and company blogs.
• Assist in crisis communication planning and response efforts.
• Collaborate with internal teams on cross-functional communication initiatives.

• Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in a public relations or communications role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of grammar and style.
• Proven ability to write clear, concise, and engaging press releases and media pitches.
• Familiarity with the South African media landscape and key contacts.
• Experience with media monitoring tools and techniques.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with PR software.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment.
• Team player with a collaborative attitude.
